About My Bunny Barn and Me ! ! !
At the age of 49 in 1979 I had a major stroke. I was not expected to live BUT I fooled tham all. My husband got me three New Zealand rabbits to care for. I could not talk at all but as I jabbored to m rabbits and the help of a little girl next door that would come over and we would sing the A B C song. She would not let up on me and as we sang and I talked to my rabbits little by little it all came back. I started out a back yard rabbitry and evolved into a 200 hole rabbitry called Joanne's Bunny Barn.
I live in North Central Texas in the country side of Purdon. My husband and I build a 40x42' rabbitry, that had 200 cages in. At one time I had them all filled with either New Zealand, Californian,Holland Lops, Polish, Velveteen Lops, Lionheads and last but not least my English Lops. They are my one and only love now. I had an other stroke(mild) and the doctor said get rid of half of the breeds that you have. SOOOOOOO---- Now I have English Lops Velveteen Lops and Lionheads.
Without my rabbits when my lifes partner passed away 2 years ago, I would have been lost. I devoted all of my time on my rabbits I was married for 47 years. I miss him greatly and I dedicate this web site to him. He would have wanted me to go on and that is exactly what I am doing. I have worked hard at the shows in Texas and I ended up 3d in the state of Texas and 10 in the Nation. I will receive a 10th place plaque on November 3d at the National Convention.

I created this web site on: October 25, 2003
Updated:November 9, 2003. Just returned from the ARBA National Convention. I was number 10 on the sweepsteakes this year with 2,080 points. Didn't do bad in the show either. I brought 14 cage holes and 8 rabbits to show. Sold 5 and bought 11. 2 from California, 3 from Washington State,3 from Michigan and three from Lubbock Texas. Where else could one get the bloodlines that I did.
